The Guest Room, Ready for Fall
Cozy, cuddly and ready for whoever comes home.
The guest room that everyone wants to sleep in: a black iron bed with little brass finials, a soft green velvet quilt, a red plaid throw at the foot and a lamp with a gingham shade glowing on the nightstand.
It's easy to put together and nearly everything washes, so it works just as well for grandparents as it does for grandchildren. Four pieces make the room, each as an Heirloom and a Find.

How to make it feel inherited
- Start with an iron bed. Black iron with a little brass looks like it has been in the family for generations.
- Layer soft on soft. A velvet quilt, then a plaid throw tossed at the foot.
- Give the lamp a gingham shade. It glows warmer than plain linen and looks a little old-fashioned in the best way.
- Choose things that wash. A guest room that welcomes children is a guest room that gets used.
